Q. I've been using the Lose It! iPhone app to try to lose weight. With that app you have to try to cut down your calories and eat a certain amount per day.
My problem is I'm always craving food. It's not like I can just get rid of all the junk food in my house because other people in my family eat it too. What can I do to stop craving food so much and stop binge eating whenever I want chocolate or salt?

A. -Sometimes you eat when you're bored. I find when I'm busy working on something, or out of the house with friends or going somewhere, I'm not hungry. So try to keep yourself busy.
-Also, I have this problem too :/ Eat foods like wheat bread, anything with a high amount of protein, eggs especially, etc. that will keep you fuller longer. If you eat eggs in the morning, it will keep you satisfied for HOURS without cravings! (:
-Drink tons of water too. Sometimes you'll find that when you're hungry, you're actually just dehydrated. Your body needs eight 8-ounce glasses of water every day throughout the day. Try drinking water!
-Keep away from the junk food.. they're full of bad sugars that only keep you full for a small amount of time, and then you're craving more food. Be careful!
-Don't eat just 3 big meals a day. Cut it up to smaller meals every couple hours. It'll keep you more energized and fuller longer. Plus, it's healthier and keeps your metabolism going.
-And a little chocolate here and there never hurts (;

How can I stop myself from binge eating ?
Q. I am 5'3 114 lbs., I diet and exercise. I think the only thing stopping me from losing weight is binge eating. I binge eat when I'm nervous. I also suffer from depression, this also causes me to binge eat. PLEASE HELP. I want to lose weight but i can if I binge eat.

Two things that really helped me were something I learned from the people at Overeaters Anonymous (otherwise useless for me, but this was important). It's called HALT.
Never let yourself get too Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired.
Second, I learned to manage what I did eat. For some reason, when I craved sugar and crunch snacks, eating protein, especially beef jerky, satisfied something and I felt better and was able to stop the binge.
