A. It depends honestly. What kind of fruit/veg are you eating? If you are eating the sugary kind such as bananas, mangoes and pineapple you probably won't lose anything. You don't want to lose too much weight too quickly or you will feel the urge to binge. the best way to lose weight is to eat a balanced diet with extra protein to prevent muscle wasting. Try to incorporate some grapefruit into every meal. I find that it really fills me up (even more so than vegetables) for the amount of calories that it has (100 per 1 large fruit). I has also been shown that "theoretically" citrus fruit can help eliminate fat.
Also, if you are eating more fruits and veg. beware that you can get diarrhea aswell as bad gas which is less than ideal when you're trying to do sports. (TRUST ME, exercise on a high fibre diet isn't too fun, especially when you feel like "going" several km from home in the middle of a run)

How do you recover from a food-binge?
Q. I've been eating a healthy diet (with the occasional treat), but I recently pigged out and it made me feel awful. I'm not used to eating such high volumes of junk food as I used to.
What should I do to recover from this? My stomach hurts and I feel just awful.

A. I actually have a few techniques for overcoming discomfort after a food binge.
First, make sure you drink enough water. This will help flush out the "crap" you've eaten. This will also help with the second step which is to increase your fiber intake. If you don't increase your water intake with the fiber intake, it can result in being bloated, excess gas, and even constipation.
For the stomach, I recommend peppermint tea. Just get comfortable and sip some peppermint tea. If you're hungry, snack on some fresh fruit and/or vegetables.Overall, this is basically a natural fiber/water detox which works within a day to have you feeling better.
Try to do some exercise, even if it's just some light/moderate walking. This will basically help speed up digestion and get everything moving along. Don't overdo it if you really feel bad; even a little bit of exercise will make a difference.

How do I get my husband to loose weight?
Q. A bit of history to help. My husband is overweight and I seemed to try everything to get him to lose the weight. I buy and cook healthier dinners. I don't buy junk food. I bought him a gym membership and he doesn't use it. Sometimes he will get on a running kick and run everyday but this doesn't last long. When he does get motivavted he will lose about 10-20 pounds easy then he platoes and gives up. He works as a general manager at Applebees so I am sure he doesn't eat too well at work. But there is nothing I can do about that. The problem is when he is around food he has to eat it. When he stops for gas he will by sodas and junkfood. He did stuggle with bulimia in college. He doesn't purge any more but he sure does binge when he's stressed. I also tried playing the do it for our daughter card. That doesn't work. Is there anything else I can do? He has no will power. I am worried that he will have heart problems and develop diabetes. He will be 29 next week.
A. Do you love you husband? if he's happy let him be. Love your husband for WHO he is..not what he looks like.
has he actually said he wants to lose weight? don't nag him, support him, sounds like YOU are causing some of his stress by nagging him about his weight.
