Has anyone taken Yaz and noticed if it helped with PMDD symptoms?

Q. ***Please note that I am aware of the risks of blood clots and increased potassium, so that is not what I am asking a question about...I want to know if it will help with PMDD only.***

I had an appointment with my OB/GYN today and requested that he change my birth control pills. I explained that I have severe symptoms one to two weeks before my period,such as:
--Extreme hunger and binge eating;
--Moodiness...even to the point that I pick fights (even with my friends and boyfriend);
--Insomnia;
--Lack of drive / ambition (including at work)...
He prescribed Yaz and told me that it should help with these types of symptoms. Should I expect to see any significant changes after I have been on this pill for a while?...and if so, ho long until I see / feel results? Thank you!

A. Yaz will help a little bit with PMDD symptoms.

How much does this sound like PMDD and who here has tried Paxil or YAZ for it?
Q. This is a multi-layered question, but first, I'd just like to ask about PMDD. I sincerely think I have it - my PMS is just so different from most people I know. Symptoms which start typically a week and a half before menstruation include cramping/headaches, feelings of depression, anger, moodiness, binge eating, a general feeling of "everyone hates me," being really frustrated with my boyfriend over ridiculous, petty things, and times of wanting to either sleep all the time or not sleep at all.

I'm on Paxil CR for an anxiety disorder and have read that this can help treat PMDD, but obviously it doesn't work on that for me (it does, however, work for my general anxiety).

Anyone taken YAZ for it? My doctor put me on it, but I got freaked out after reading some YAZ horror stories. Also, I was worried that if I ever missed a dose and had to take two at one time, it'd make me sick b/c the hormone levels are higher than what I take now (Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo).

A. I have severe PMDD. It was diagnosed back in 2003 while I was still suffering from a severe case of PPD (postpartum depression). I was on many meds for the PPD, which did help it; however, none helped the PMDD.

It was only after I began taking Yaz a year ago that I finally felt relief from the PMDD.

I was suicidal every month. I lashed out at my family. I went through horrible moods. It was a nightmare. I was hospitalized at one point with it (as well as with the PPD).

You could very well have PMDD...

Do NOT take ortho tricycline for PMDD, it will only make it worse. Not every story about Yaz is a horror story, I assure you. It's beneficial to many women with PMDD.

How to stop binge eating?
Q. I'm not insanely overweight or anything, I'm a female 5'8'' amd about 173lbs. Ideally I'd love to be back to about 155-158. I was about a year ago, but after I stopped talking Yaz birth control necause of the cost, and a million things happening that were very stressful, I've put on some weight. I can't afford to go to the gym, so I'm looking into buying an elliptical for home. But I have a bad bad habit of late night eating, specifically because I work nights, so I'm starving when I get home, and I stay up late in general. it's not even just junk food, I try not to buy the foods that I tend to crave, but I'll even just grab a sandwich or something...I feel like it's simply a boredom habit. I want to get back on Yaz soon despite the cost because it actually surpressed my appetite and I lost that desire to eat and eat and eat. I'm 19 years old as well. Any other people ever dealt with this? How did you occupy your mind so you weren't mindlessly eating?

A. I am kind of overweight and I don't like it. :/ I eat very quickly apparently (haha (: my mom says I do) but I know that if you eat slower you will be less able to eat a ton. It takes your stomach about 15 minutes or more to realize that it's full.

I have a habit of eating when I'm bored too. So when you are about to grab a snack from the cabinet or fridge, stop and think,"Am I actually hungry?" Or if you can't stop thinking about food, you could paint your fingernails so you can't stick them into the bag of chips because you'll mess them up. Or just do something to keep you busy, like try reading a book or finishing something for work?
I've also heard about people sticking a photo of themselves on the door of the refridgerator or cupboard so when they going to snag a bite to eat they will see what they look like. You could tape a photo of yourself from last year, when you had your ideal weight. Then when you see it you will realize that you need to control what you eat. (: I hope this helps.
