can binge eating until you feel sick increase your heart rate?

Q. i've been suffering from a bad pattern of binge eating that is most likely binge eating disorder or compulsive over eating disorder at this point. recently ive notice that whenever i binge my heart thuds when it beats, my heart rate increases, and i feel heavy limbed, sluggish and sometimes get a head ache. I am not overweight and am actually in very good shape and health except for this eating disorder. Are these typical short term responses to overeating? why are they happening?

A. Of course your heart rate increases...it's struggling to make the rest of your body work. You feel sluggish because your body isn't getting the nutrients it needs. If this continues, there will be a time when your body shuts down completely.

Get help for binging. YOu cannot continue to do this. You will only mess up your body, make yourself sick and possibly die from it.

If you were in good health, you wouldn't have an eating disorder, so please don't lie to yourself.

Please see a therapist and get treatment immediately. This isn't something you can stop on your own.

Can someone tell me what binge eating is?
Q. what is binge eating? is it where you can't stop eating?

A. Most of us overeat from time to time, and many people feel they frequently eat more than they should. Eating large amounts of food, however, does not mean that a person has binge eating disorder. Doctors are still debating the best ways to determine if someone has binge eating disorder. But most people with serious binge eating problems have:
Frequent episodes of eating what others would consider an abnormally large amount of food.
Frequent feelings of being unable to control what or how much is being eaten.
Several of these behaviors or feelings:
Eating much more rapidly than usual.
Eating until uncomfortably full.
Eating large amounts of food, even when not physically hungry.
Eating alone out of embarrassment at the quantity of food being eaten.
Feelings of disgust, depression, or guilt after overeating.
Episodes of binge eating also occur in the eating disorder bulimia nervosa.
Persons with bulimia, however, regularly purge, fast, or engage in strenuous exercise after an episode of binge eating. Purging means vomiting or using diuretics (water pills) or laxatives in greater-than-recommended doses to avoid gaining weight. Fasting is not eating for at least 24 hours. Strenuous exercise, in this case, is defined as exercising for more than an hour solely to avoid gaining weight after binge eating. Purging, fasting, and strenuous exercise are dangerous ways to attempt weight control.

How long will it take to lose weight ?
Q. I binge eat regularly and I have put on about 20 pounds in the past 3 months due to stress and emotional overeating. How long will it take me to lose some of it? And how should I go about doing it? I feel disgusting and really need help losing this weight!!! I hate my body right now!

A. I would highly recommend checking out Livestrong.com's Daily Plate. You can enter in your weight and a weekly weight loss goal, and, as long as you are consistently logging your food intake and your exercise, you will achieve that goal.

I had a really bad binge day a few days ago, and I went out to their site and logged everything I ate that day. I really disgusted myself to see I had eaten 3000 calories in the day, BEFORE dinner. The good news was, I worked out really hard that same morning, so I felt a little better seeing that I had also burned around 800 calories. Seeing my mistake and my weakness, it encouraged me to track my intake the next couple of days until I felt like I had my mind in the right place again.

It's because of that site that I am really good about what I eat each day, and when I mess up, it really helps me get back on track.
