binge eating disorder?

Q. hi,
im fourteen years old, 126 pounds, 5"6, and i think im developing a binge eating disorder. i have a history of eating disorders; i suffered from anorexia two years ago, as a result of low self esteem, and since my recovery i have gone on a cycle of dieting and calorie restriction after weight gain. low self esteem.
for the past few months, however, its been a different story. although ive had occasional binges, where i ate over 3000 calories a day (and felt sick from eating so much), for the but past month, they have become much more frequent.i have been bingeing everyday for the past week, tons of food. ive tried to curb it by eating healthily, or reducing my caloric intake slightly, but it fails. ive told my parents, and asked them to watch myeating patterns and prevent me from bingeing, but they laugh it off and say it is cravings, or "you need it". ive confided in a couple of friends, who have dismissed it as "thats stupid, dont worry" - i am worrying, because even when i am on the point of vomiting from fullness i continue to cram food into my mouth. i feel guilty after eating all this junk, i cry, then reprimand myself, and go do the same thing again. i want this destructive cycle to stop , and i need advice on how to do this by myself before it escalates.
thankyou,

A. You need to take a stand and go see a physician , or atleast call and ask the nurse what to do. Keep a food diary if you dont already and any activity that involves food and bowel movements. You are the keeper of you... be strong and get a hold of this. LOok online and in phone book for hotlines, also check out your local health dept ,they see all things, also you can ask and talk to a councelor at your school. Take care and hugs to you dear, kristin

How to stay on track when your breaking an eating disorder?
Q. Hey, I'm a think I m a normal girl, about 5'6" and I weigh just under 140 lbs. The past few months I've been trying to break my habit of binge eating and obsessive dieting. I constantly try to skip meals and then I eat a lot in order to curb my hunger, only to feel guilty and start all over again. Ive been trying for about two months now and have forbidden myself from looking at the scale. Then last week I broke my rule and looked. I used to be 135 and even though its not that much more weight I have been freaking out ever since. I'm at the verge of a relapse, can anyone give me some tips on how to stay focused and feel more confident? I've been binge eating the last couple of days from stress and worry of gaining even more weight. I do exercise and eat a mostly healthy diet. Even though people do tell me positive things like I'm beautiful, I feel more inclined to think they are just being friendly.
Please only serious answers. Ive been on both sides of the spectrum, anorexic and later on overweight. I'm fearful of both.

A. Hello Kristin,

You say you constantly try to skip meals...which result in you bingeing out of hunger. So that would be the first place to start - to stop skipping meals. Stick to 3 healthy meals every day: breakfast, midday and evening, with a healthy snack in between. That way you will not feel hungry, you'll be eating healthily anyway so wont gain weight, and you'll be helping to keep your metabolism and blood sugar levels stable as well. An important point is IF you do binge again, DO NOT skip a meal later to make up for it - otherwise the binge/restrict/binge/restrict cycle starts again.

good luck

If I become a vegetarian, will that make me lose weight? Calling out all vegetarians?
Q. Ok, please read this. My sister is a Vegetarian, I was always sort of against her vegetarianism so this is sort of hard for me to say. I have binge eating disorder. I would say that about 80% of my diet is meat. My sister is a vegetarian but is overweight because she eats all of the bad things that are not meat. So my theory is that if I cut out meat, then I will also cut out all the unhealthy things. If I remove the calories from meat that I eat in a day I will consume less calories and fat and will lose weight. I love meat and I eat it everyday except for Good Friday. I am willing to put my heart into this for 6 months and see if I lose weight, if I do I will continue. My sister will be helping me as this will be a HUGE challenge for me to not eat what I eat all the time.

So my question to you is, after reading my theory, do you think that I will lose weight and become healthier after following this plan?

I believe that it will reduce my addiction to food. I am also calling out all vegetarians to help me.

BTW: I refuse to become vegan, I want protein and calcium in my diet, so I refuse to be vegan.

If you have any other suggestions for me or things that I could also give up to help me.

I'm 14 years old so don't tell me to give up dairy, because teens need that. Make your suggestions reasonable for my age.

Thank You!

A. When I went vegetarian I relied heavily on dairy and gained weight (like thinking that I could eat as much mac n cheese or pizza as I wanted). I lot of vegetarians I know who don't watch what they eat are overweight (sometimes obese). This isn't always the case of course if you eat more veggies than dairy or at least balance it out (look at Kristin Bell or Carrie Underwood).

Anyways, I tried a vegan diet for a month only to lose weight and I was eventually going to go back to dairy. I lost 40lbs in 2 months so I stuck with it and my skin cleared up. I had never felt healthier and trust me I get all of my daily recommended calcium and protein. More than my meat and dairy loving boyfriend lol

Veganism is not for everyone and don't believe in pushing it so I respect your decision not to go there but I do hope you stick with vegetarianism as I feel it is healthier and better for the planet. Good luck :)

BTW: There are lots of vegetarian with diet plans (especially celebrity's) that you can look up on the internet
