Where can I get support for my binge eating disorder online?

Q. I'm 13, and I really need help.
My parents won't really help me, so I need support
from somewhere else.
Where can I get help from online?

I really don't want to ruin my life at 13.

A. i pig out on junk food every other night. if you look at my grocery receipt you'll see cookies and ice cream and other crap. part of me would like to stop and be thin again like i was before i got pregnant....the other part of me just says "to hell with it"

just be happy. thats all that really matters. if you're not happy, hit the gym. if you cant eat right, atleast maybe you can burn off the crappy foods.

hope that helps.

How to deal with my eating disordered sister?
Q. My older sister (in highschool) has been in and out of treatment centers for her bulimia and depression. I know I should "forgive her" because it is a terrible disease, but I am honestly fed up with her behavior. She is constantly lying to avoid eating (sleeping to avoid meal times, lying she is sick). Also she gained weight while getting treatment so she is trying to lose the weight again by avoiding eating but my parent don't know. When my parents tell her to eat, she screams and ruins the whole mood of the house. She also binges/purges in front of me and I am just sick of watching her slowly kill herself and refuse treatment. My parents give her everything she wants (designer bags, not eating, waking up late, not going to school) just so she would stop screaming/breaking glass because it is so scary when she gets mad. I told my mom that she is ruining my sister's life by giving her everything she wants and my mom said that it is the only way that she can deal with my sister... doesn't make sense right?

Meanwhile, she ALWAYS compares me and her because I am naturally very thin and have a fast metabolism. She always has to eat less than me , exercise, etc and it is making me very anxious, as I don't want to become disordered like her.

She is moping around all day and then gets crazy during the night. My parents are so tense around her too and I just can not deal with her anymore, using up all of the family money. ALso, she is always chatting people on facebook/asking for sympathy by lying. Any tips on how to cope? Should i just move out haha?

A. Dietitian is the best to consult in such situations.

Does bulimia actually make you lose weight?
Q. Well I've got a psycho friend and she's bulimic, I've tried stopping her. But I was just curious, do you actually lose weight being bulimic? I mean yes you do binge eat after wards (at most cases) but if you don't binge eat and just throw up mostly everything you eat, would you lose weight?

A. First off don't call her psycho, i'm a recovered Bulimic who suffered from this horrible disease for 13 years. I spent 1 1/2 years in therapy for it and at 27 am finally binge and purge free. No you do not always lose weight with this disease. I have never been lower than 190lbs the whole time i was bulimic (keep in mind i'm 6'2). Bulimics don't lose weight because bulimia is not about weight loss so much, its more about control. Being able to control what goes in and out of our bodies helps us cope with stress and uncontrollable situations in our lives. You need to google bulimia and educate yourself also give your friend the number to a toll free eating disorder hotline to help her talk to someone. She needs help so be there for her. This disease is horrible it ruins your teeth, messes up your stomach, ect.. i urge you to get your friend help before its too late.

Also on a side note, most bulimics also suffer from severe depression and these two diseases go hand in hand. She will probably need drugs as well as threapy to treat her disorder. I was on zoloft for 1 year while in therapy and it helped. I am now off the drugs and out of therapy and i am in control of my life instead of my ED (Eating Disorder) controling me.
