What can I do to instantly calm myself instead of binge eating?

Q. I binge eat to calm the racing, scattered thoughts in my head. My brain can't slow down until my stomach is stuffed. Once I have eaten to full capacity, the chaos goes away, but then I'm left with tons of unnecessary calories. Any helpful advice?

A. It's very hard to soothe oneself.

I used to binge eat too. I used to work next to a gym and I'd go there at lunch (or a couple times a day). Eating to that point causes your metabolism to slow down and the affects of adrenaline buildup to slow.

Now I do 50 pushups in empty conference rooms when I'm stressed.

You have to find a way to work the adrenaline out of your body.

What are some distractions that i can use to stop me from binge-eating?
Q. I'm bulimic and lately i have realised that i am OK if i don't binge eat. I am capable of eating a normal amount of food and keeping it down. But sometimes due to stress or other emotions i binge eat, which leaves me with overwhelming guilt and the need to make myslf throw up.

What are some things i can do to distract myself when i feel like binge eating?

A. I just came back from the psych and discussed this very thing haha...
going to the movies, taking a bath, walking, listening to music, shopping, reading, going to the gym, doing some sport, cleaning, seeing a friend, calling a friend, going to the beach, drawing, painting, knitting, sleeping, driving, going to a club, playing music, cooking, gardening, watch TV, make your own list, go for a bike ride, take photos, go fishing, writing in a diary, meditating, hiking, playing cards (yahoo games!), look at old photos, crosswords, puzzles, surf the net, light some candles, have a coffee or tea instead, play a computer game, horseriding, rock climbing, jigsaws, play with your pets, go for a walk wirth your pets, rearrange some furniture...
this is all from a list he gave me... good luck!

What is the easiest way to lose weight?
Q. I have around 3 stone to lose and would love to lose it, or the vast bulk of it before christmas.
Apart from the obvious thing of eat less and go to the gym(i've started this), is there any other tips you can give me?
How can i stop myself from craving and binge eating?
At this point i'm willing to do anything

A. Binge eating and cravings come from giving up the things that you love, you need a complete life change if you want to succeed. That is why diets donât work or work for a while and then you gain back all the weight you have lost..
Going to the gym is good but you could also try walking a couple miles a day if you can.. The more calories you burn the better results you will get, walking will make you breath more deeply and the sunshine will help you sleep at night which is hard to do when you diet..

The best way to deal with binge eating is to find different foods to replace the ones that you binge on.. Donât keep foods in your house that you know will make it hard for you to give up.. I donât eat chocolate so I buy other candy that has almost no calories and eat them instead..

The cravings were the hardest things for me.. You need a lot of variety the more the better but keep things in your house that you like, nothing is worse than trying to make yourself eat foods that you donât like just because someone tells you there good for you.. Instead of pears which I donât like I eat lots of bananas.. Instead of potato chips, I eat pretzels which are fat freeâ¦

I hope you find some of this useful, and the link below is good too⦠Good luck and hang in there itâs hard to lose weight..
