Q. I'm 18, so when I drink, I binge drink obviously to have fun with the rest of my friends. I drink every Friday and Saturday night and maybe one or two times during the week. I don't need lectures, I know I'm not old enough, blah blah. I want to stop drinking completely though. What are the benefits to stopping drinking? I've heard it makes you "prettier", what do people mean by that? Does it help acne? Etc... thanks.
A. Let's just forget about the problems from chronic daily use of alcohol and concentrate on the benefits of stopping Binge drinking.
No more time lost from work/school/homework due to hangover or just plain lepping it off.
More money in your pocket from less money spent on alcohol, food (you do eat more when you are drunk), cigarettes.
Less legal fees from minor in possession, possession of an open container, public drunkeness, drunk and disorderly, DUI, vehicular manslaughter, etc.
Prettier face and body: yes less acne, less broken blood vessels, less beer gut, less fat overall.
Less medical fees from cuts and scrapes from drunken falls, brawls, car crashes, less alcohol poisoning, less date rape, less STD's, less unplanned pregnancys, less abortions, less death overall from accidents and whatnot.
Less guilt for being a worthless slob, disappointment to your parents.
I'm sure there is more, I just can't think of any right now.

How to prepare your liver for drinking?
Q. Probably a silly question, but is there anything you can do to ensure the proper operation of your liver? I'm going to a party tonight and want to make sure my livers as healthy as possible before it.
All I've really had today is lots of water and a salad sandwhich + as much sleep as possible.
I'm not going to completely binge, just drink enough to get my tipsy.
Any help other than don't drink?

A. There isn't anything you can do to 'prepare your liver' - your liver will break down alcohol at the same rate no matter what you do. You can, however, ensure to eat foods with lots of carbohydrates (i.e. bread, waffles, greasy foods) to neutralize some of the excess bile that forms in your stomach from the liver's actions. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids as well at the same time that you are drinking alcohol to ensure renewal of the water in your bloodstream (yes, it will make you go to the bathroom more but it'll prevent a hangover and will make sure you don't upchuck whatever goes down-chuck). I'd definitely recommend eating something with carbs before you drink.
how come i do not get hangovers?
Q. Last weekend i went to a party and had two shots of 80 proof tequila and two beers immediatly after. it doesnt seem like much but im a girl who is only 5'1/2" and weighs like 93 lbs... how come i did not get any sort of hangover?
A. How you metabolize alcohol depends on a variety of factors; your age, how often you drink, and whether or not you've eaten shortly before or while drinking, among other things.
Sounds like you're binge drinking though (shots AND beer? yech!). There are much more sophisticated ways of consuming alcohol. Beer and shots included. If you are old enough to drink, try rice wine (Saki, often served at sushi restaurants), some tastier shots, or some nice stout lagers or micro-brews. If you're not old enough to drink, you'll have to stomach the cheap-o keg beer and liquor stolen from your parents' cabinet until you can get into the bars!
Best of luck. Don't worry... you'll get that hang over sooner or later, all you have to do is over indulge. I wouldn't make it a goal if I were you though!
