how to treat candida?

Q. please help,im confused.Im sure i have candida. What can you eat on the candida diet and how long does it take to work? some sites say cut all sugar except honey, others say no honey. Some say no carbs others say you can have carbs! i really don't want to carry on like this,i got in this position cos i have an eating disorder and i binge eat on massive amounts of sugary/junk food and pepsi/coffee.I really want to get better ,i have no energy at all,my heart races,i feel dizzy and i have been coughing up mucus for the last 3 years (it seems to be coming from my nose/chest,i do have allergies but i was only made aware of them after i had all these symptoms for a very long time)

A. There are yahoo groups for candida. You can get feedback from others doing the diet, and what they eat,and what anti fungals they use.You need to join yahoo groups, and then type in candida into the groups search.

Is candida overgrowth real or is it all down to anxiety?
Q. Hey,

My GF's Nan died suddenly around 6 years ago of lung cancer, shortly after this she started getting these symptoms; Spacyness, tiredness, pressure around the eyes, drunken feeling, exhaustion, sensitive to light etc...
She read up on something called a Candida Overgrowth and realised she had many of the symptoms that a Candida sufferer has. She was tested in a clinic on two occasions and the results were positive so she eventually started the Candida diet on an extreme level for around three months, yet, there was no change. She then consulted her doctor who put everything down to Anxiety/depression, now she is undertaking psychiatric help to overcome this "possible" mental illness.
Its worth stating that my GF also has an eating disorder and occasionally binge eats (she is getting mental help for this)!

1, why don't DRs believe in the Candida overgrowth (even gastro surgeons)?
2, Is it possible that my GF does have anxiety issues and its not Candida related?

Many Thanks

A. Candida is normally a self-limiting condition, but can become an overgrowth condition in immunocompromised patients (cancer), in pts on antibiotic therapy, in brittle diabetics.
Candida is a fungus and does not out compete normal bacterial flora. Some abnormal physiology must be present to allow it to overgrow. It is easily controlled with changes in pH, meds if necessary.

A. You have to realize that many doctors will say it is mental -IF they do not understand what is really going on!!!!! THEY HAVE INFLATED EGOS!!!!!! More than the average person and will not concede ignorance!!! If the test came back positive then it is a sure bet that that is at least one thing happening in her body!! Candida is present in everyone and the only way that it does not take over or becomes infectious is to have GOOD bacteria present in the gut!! Probiotics should be supplemented regularly to help prevent the spread of Candida in the body!! Anti-biotics usually trigger and increase in growth in the CAndida since anti-bios kill good bacteria as well as bad in the boy!!!
I had only a small bout of it and caught it quick after anti-bios for lyme!!!
Those symptoms can also be used to diagnose lyme disease-By the way !! Those symptoms are exact to advanced lyme-just wanted to throw that in to get you thinking!!!!!!!!
