Q. How often? Is it okay to binge once and a while and have it not completely ruin the work you've been putting in at the gym?
When I say binge, I mean I ate 600 calories over my daily calorie goal and feel terrible! I had been doing so well :(
You have a thing for fat women then do you, poster # 2?

A. Yeah it's fine! Did you know that the occasional binge (about once a week) is actually GOOD for your metabolism. It gives it "exercise". Your body is used to receiving a certain amount of calories and certain types of food and if you once in a while bombard it with calories then it recognises this and quickly speeds up your metabolism to adjust (the body is VERY efficient). In David Kirsch's book (he wrote "the ultimate New York diet" and is a famous nutritionist who proscribes a very strict high protein, but balanced diet), he actually gives you a weekly "cheat day", or rather cheat meal (you can have absolutely whatever you want). He does this himself too, there's a type of chocolate pudding he loves and he saves his craving for it for cheat day. He explains in the book the way the metabolism speeds up temporarily to accomodate the extra calories. Celebrities who are in great shape also binge now and then, you see it on reality tv shows..they also work out and so a binge now and then doesn't have any effect.
Believe me..I work out..I LOVE exercise and I also love to have a movie night with my best friend and we'll get through about 3 bags of popcorn, a larger pack of peanut M&Ms, pasta, coke and cheese between the two of us! :D

Why are kids so focused on losing weight?
Q. I'm 17 years old, and when I was around 12 - 15 I never really worried about my weight. But all I see is kids constantly going on about how they can loose weight. It really chocked me knowing there was a 12 year old girl who was all like "I hate my thighs and stomach" while she was around 67 pounds! why can't these kids just go out and have fun while they still can?
A. Itâs gotten so bad that each time I hear about Marilyn Monroe is that she was a size 12 or 14 or 16! I donât think she would have wanted to be remembered that way. What about Jane Mansfield and Sophia Loren...why arenât they ever mentioned? Maybe a better example would be to choose todayâs celebrities that looks super good while not being skinny (like Christina Hendricks or SofÃa Vergara) so itâs not about that it was better in the past but that it still good now...provided that you play a character from the 60s (Mad Men is based in the 60s), or coming from South America where the skinny ideas have not caught up yet.
When I was a teenage girl, I never had a thought about my body. I was skinny/short and I did not mind people thinking that I was a few years younger than I really was (I milked that cow paying kids price at the movie theater). I looked like a genius at school (all As) when in fact I had to repeat first grade (personal reasons). I was older than most of the other girls and smart enough to never mention it. Then at 17, your age...boom, I suddenly matured into a woman and caught up on my height. That was a hard period of adjustment, going from being a little girl to a woman, getting boobs and boysâ attention.
I was skinny because I developed late and I was very active, walking or biking to go places. I was playing outside and when I was having fun inside, it was taking martial art lessons or splashing in a pool. I had no concept of âexercisingâ and âworking outâ. I was not watching TV (except after dinner), had no computer, no phone...having fun was going to the park, the fair or get an adrenaline taste while playing in an abandoned house falling to pieces (walk next to the walls and donât wake up any hobos).
Kids nowadays hate their body because theyâre not active. You can be very skinny but if youâre skinny-fat, you donât look good and you donât feel good. They should stay off their phone and their laptop once in a while and go to the park with their friends to play a game of Ultimate.
A 110lbs unfit person with little muscle mass and a third of the body being body fat (skinny-fat people, NWO = Normal Weight Obese) could have a low âhealthyâ BMI but still be as unhealthy as obese people and at risk for the same obesity related diseases.
Also, theyâre constantly exposed to the media, zooming in on skinny photoshopped actresses/models and the constant chocking news about their eating disorders. It almost has become fashionable to suffer from anorexia, bulimia or food addiction which becomes a âfashion trendâ and is demeaning to any other people suffering in their lives, because theyâre not feeding off the media and reciprocally.
How come young people want to look like sick celebrities?
Even guys become victims when they think that their girlfriend should look like those airbrushed women in Maxim.
What about that celebrity starving herself, being a celebrity because she was the one looking better than a few other thousand ones, with a fragile ego (people wanting to be famous usually need to prove something) and after all her efforts, she gets photoshopped, like she still does not look good enough and sheâs given bigger boobs, longer legs, thinner waist, perfect skin, greener eyes, whiter teeth, shinier hair until she looks like a plastic android, and becomes the fantasy of boys and the impossible goal of girls...If she cannot even look like her own picture, who could even look like her? Then sheâll get depressed looking at herself in the mirror in the morning, not being photographed by a professional, dressed by a wardrobe person and all made-up, and will look nothing like her picture that everybody sees and that sheâs supposed to replicate on some red carpet! Talk about pressure and Iâm going to lose my appetite or binge.

Do you think i could be a model?
Q. I'm 5'3" and a little thick. I have naturally thick dark brown hair and dark hazel eyes. I wear size 11 pants and medium/large top. I'm tan and quite muscular. I'm also 15 years old.
Thoughts?
Thoughts?
A. No, you have to be slim and you are much too short at 5ft 3 but there are a lot of other great careers out there for you...As a model one has to be at least 5ft 7 and that is small for a model but Kate Moss who has been a top model and on the cat walk is ''only'' 5ft 8'' but she makes herself appear taller and so despite not being very tall for a top model who walks on fashion shows and is famous.. one can be 5ft 8...but no chance to be a model at 5ft 3.. no matter even if you were very slender... then perpaps you could become a catalogue model but they don't earn much at all.. but it could be a part time income...it's not nearly as much as what top models make.. plus you are a little bit too chubby and in the model business that is absolutely not possible to be somewhat overweight ..they don't accept that.. They have plus size models but they have to be tall...none of them is overweight.. really they are just not going to accept to having to be super skinny to become a model so they weigh a healthy weight and then they have no belly fat or are not chubby but they are a normal weight and unfortunately in the modeling world they still have this fixation of girls having to be skinny and that is wrong..because it causes a lot of teenagers to become anorexic or bulimic just because they want to be skinny and that is not a healthy way to get to an ideal weight by eating noting or by binge eating and then purging (vomiting after having eaten a big meal.) that can lead to serious illness and even to heart or kidney failure..organ failure ...a lot of teenagers die from anorexia or bulimia and eating disorders..so don['t do that..if you want to lose weight...eat healthy food instead of junk food and find an exercise you like and do a bit of exercise on a daily basis and cut out some of the snacks.. such as ice cream, chocolate and biscuits and candies...that's not good as well as lemonades and a lot of sugary drinks..instead switch to water with a dash of fruit juice or tea which you can put in the fridge and drink as ice tea in summer...herbal teas but with no sugar...x Eat but eat healthy food and you need to use portion control... so eat lots of vegetables or salad and as dessert fruit or yoghourt instead of ice cream...x
