What are some of the health problems associated with anorexia nervosa?

Q. What are some of the health problems associated with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder? Explain, from a physiological standpoint, how eating disorders may lead to health problems. Give at least three examples to support your answer.

A. There are the obvious such as Malnutrition, caused by undereating, can lead to deficiency in energy and nutrients. Malnutrition can lead to blindness, kidney failure, heart attack and death.

Dehydration is common in Anorexia Nervosa and often causes seizures in the sufferer.

Electrolyte imbalances are common due to a large intake of water and can affect blood sugar levels.

Hyponatremia is also common due to a large water intake which causes a lack of sodium in the blood, can bring on fluid in the lungs, brain swelling and ultimately death.

Anorexia sufferers may get soft thin hair covering their body, this is a defense to try and keep the body warm as it loses fat and body temperature drops.

Muscle wasting is common.

Insomnia is common and can cause real problems for Anorexics as they are abnormally tired due to the lack of energy.

Hair loss and dry skin and nails.

Low blood pressure occurs often in Anorexia cases and can cause Heart Arrythmia's.

Many Anorexic's lose their menstrual cycle. This can cause problems when it comes to pregnancy and fertility in the future.

Depression and fatigue.

Frequently weak and dizzy.

Death - anorexics are at severe risk of death from heart failure, heart attacks, stroke, organ failure and suicide.

Anorexia is always serious and even if the person still looks healthy this illness is having a serious impact on their body and some problems are irreversible.

I have gained 4 pounds over the holidays! Does gaining that much have a visible affect?
Q. Also how fast do you reckon I can lose this weight!?
I didnt even know it was possible for me to gain that much weight from a few days of binge eating!
What should I do to lose this weight?

A. You didn't gain 4 lbs. of permanent weight in just a few days. The most common cause is water retention, often from salty or over-processed foods (frozen or foods from a box). 4 lbs. is only visible to you, and by worrying about it, it just magnifies it in your own mind but nobody else is going to see it.

Losing the weight is simply a matter of getting back to eating right, balanced, and healthy, and getting regular exercise.

Good intro for a paper about eating disorders?
Q. Eating disorders are serious conditions with which you are so worried with food and weight that you canât focus on anything else. The main types of eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge-eating disorder. Eating disorders can cause serious physical problems, and the most severe can be life-threatening. Most people with eating disorders are girls, but guys can also have eating disorders. An exception is binge-eating disorder, which affects almost as many guys as girls. The signs and symptoms of eating disorders are different depending on the type of eating disorder. Treatments for eating disorders usually involve psychotherapy, nutrition education, family counseling, medications and hospitalization.

A. Pretty good. I think you should come up with something else for your first sentence. You need something that is interesting (maybe a fact or something) and will grab your reader's attention. You should also try to use "eating disorders" a little less and try to make your sentences flow into each other a little more, they are kind of choppy.

How old are you?
