i'm having trouble with this part?

Q. on my essay i wrote that "Ethnicity has often been thought to be a contributing factor to binge eating disorder because many people believe that ethnic minorities suffer less from mental disorders. Despite this belief, Crago and Shisslak (2003) found that binge eating was equally common in white females and minorities (p. 299). Even though the statistics for binge eating in ethnicities may have been the same, the reasons are different. Hispanic and African American women who binges eat are more likely to do so as a result of stress stemming from racism and/or prejudice (Crago and Shisslak, 2003, pp. 296-297). However, Striegel-Moore, et al. (2001) mentioned in their article that ethnic minorities are underrepresented as they are less likely to seek medical attention than Caucasian American women (p.1902)". even though its a good information, my teacher told me that i was anwering one article with info from another article, therefore creating a big neckless paper. i need help
how can i fix this

A. Hmmm....that's a toughy. Not sure exactly what your teacher means by 'answering one article with another'. To be honest it doesn't seem like you are doing that. In fact, it seemed pretty good. What I think your teacher means though, is that you are just writing a paper based on article facts. In other words, you need to add more details and sentences in your own words. Like for example, rather then just citing the articles and moving on to the next one, you could cite one and then talk a little about it.
You wrote, "Despite this belief, Crago and Shisslak (2003) found that binge eating was equally common in white females and minorities (p. 299)." Which is a strong argument. But you then proceeded to go on to answer that argument with a new argument. Basically you are leaving out the point. It probably would be better if you talked a little more on what Crago and Shisslak found in your own words. Don't summarize and definitely do not paraphrase, but write what you got out of it. Doesn't have to be long, maybe a sentence or few, just so it makes your writing a bit more interesting and unique. You could then go on and talk about the other arguments and how they support your thesis or topic. The key thing to remember is to make sure it all flows nicely.
Other than that, your content is pretty good. You just need to talk more like you, and not like others. Provide the arguments in a way that will grab the reader's attention. Don't just say who and who said this so that's why. Rather, present it so it flows naturally, as if you were talking to someone. Imagine you were talking to someone and you spoke exactly what you wrote...seem a bit tedious does it not? You want to make sure the reader understands what you are saying, and not imply what you mean. It will make your writing piece all the better.
If you need anymore help or have any other questions feel free to ask. Hope this helps! Good luck with your paper! 8)

Which is the better speech idea?
Q. The first choice is beauty is no longer based on inner self in our society today because of -brand names, makeup, tanning, boys like girls who are prettier, etc. -plastic surgery, -the halo effect/you're more likely to get a better job

The second choice is does dieting lead to eating disorders and I would say that as long as you're dieting healthy and not doing it in a binge eating, crash dieting, purging, or not eating than you should be safe

The third choice is abortion (which is sure to cause debate so I'm not giving my opinion)

The fourth (and final) choice is sexism and feminism in things like should girls be allowed in wrestling and football and how women are just as capable as men in a lot of things, but not everything

So thanks and I really need an answer((:
oh and i forgot that in abortion it would also sort of include euthanasia

A. It really depends on what it's for. If it's for, say, a forensics competition, you'll want to go with the most original topic to be met with the most success. If it's for a classroom speech, you'll want to present the argument that your classmates haven't heard as much.

I think the second topic is the least cliche, but could very easily be combined with the first topic. Abortion could make a very good speech, but unless you're well-versed in all of the actual facts and statistics and have some concrete arguments to bring to the table that may make people think twice about their own already-concrete opinons, don't waste your time with an audience that won't want to hear it.

All in all I think you have a lot of potential with any of these topics. Like I said, some of them can be combined so don't be afraid to experiment until you get the best speech :)

Good luck!!

I cant get any help from my parents cus they think im trying to get attention when I told them around a yr ago.

A. Because of societies pressure on women it's no wonder why so many women are looking to their diet to make themselves feel better about themselves. Consider these facts and statistics:

A 1998 survey done by Exeter University included 37,500 young women between twelve and fifteen. Over half (57.5%) listed appearance as the biggest concern in their lives. The same study indicated that 59% of the twelve and thirteen-year-old girls who suffered from low self-esteem were also dieting.

Research suggests that about one percent (1%) of female adolescents have anorexia. That means that about one out of every one hundred young women between ten and twenty are starving themselves, sometimes to death. Research suggests that about four percent (4%), or four out of one hundred, college-aged women have bulimia. About 50% of people who have been anorexic develop bulimia or bulimic patterns. A recent study reported in Drugs and Therapy Perspectives reports that about one percent of women in the United States have binge eating disorder, as do thirty percent of women who seek treatment to lose weight. In other studies, up to two percent, or one to two million adults in the U.S., have problems with binge eating. In addition, people with eating disorders often abuse prescription and recreational drugs, sometimes to numb themselves emotionally, to escape misery and depression, and sometimes in the service of weight loss. BDD (Body dsymorphic disorder) affects about two percent of people in the U.S. and strikes males and females equally, usually before age eighteen (70% of the time). Sufferers are excessively concerned about appearance, body shape, body size, weight, perceived lack of muscles, facial blemishes, and so forth. In some cases BDD can lead to steroid abuse, unnecessary plastic surgery, and even suicide.

Without treatment, up to twenty percent (20%) of people with serious eating disorders die. With treatment, that number falls to two to three percent (2-3%). In 2005, Dr. Wright of the Eating Disorders Program at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas indicated that the mortality rate for untreated anorexia nervosa may be even higher, up to 25 percent. With treatment, about sixty percent (60%) of people with eating disorders recover.

The fact is honey that you need to seek professional help. When someone gets to the point where they've realized they have a problem and have told those they care, they need to take another step and seek professional aid. Talk to your parents again and tell them that although you respect their thoughts and opinions, you would like to schedule a visit with the family doctor and possibly a therapist. Getting a physical at your doctors should help you see where you are health wise. He or she will be able to tell you what weight you should be with your height and if you're healthy. Keeping that in mind you should talk to a therapist who can listen to your thoughts on your appearance and help you with any questions or concerns you have. A lot of people recommend turning to religion for times like these, and for some it works. I think you should seek professional help above all.

Love and light
Blessed Be.
