Q. I have been a vegetarian for a year and im going back to meat. I know that if I just dive into it my stomach won't be able to handle it so how do I easily transfer back to meat?
Hey to all you trying to get me to stay a vegetarian, BACK OFF its my own personal decision

A. I am a vegetarian and this is the vegetarian section, so I can only answer along certain lines. I would not encourage you to give up vegetarianism, I would encourage you to find alternatives to the aspects of your current diet that you're not happy about. If your reversion is due to health reasons, note that meat is not the silver bullet of health; a balanced vegetarian diet is way better for you. If it's for taste reasons, you may just be craving some fat or salt, which you can source from vegetarian foods - have a little binge on a greasy vegie burger occasionally. If it's due to social pressure, just think back to the reasons you first became vego and be confident with your decision.
Is anyone out there a binge eater? If so how did you quit and if not how are you holding up?
Q. FYI I don't purge. I just feel like my stomach is a bottomless pit and even when its full I still think about putting more food in it.
And please don't waste my time in telling me I need help. I'm not a child, I know this.

A. Here are some of the ways I finally stopped binge-ing:
When you feel an eating binge coming on, try to get out of the room where the food is and try to get your mind on another thing. Try playing a word or numbers game - like Soduko. [They have tons of free Sudoko games online and they are addictive!]. You could also try watching a movie that you KNOW will keep your mind involved [this can be hard] or calling up a friend and chatting or even going out.
You can also drink a LARGE cup of ice water. This will fill your stomach up and try and help your body remember that it is not hungry.
If you are very, very disciplined, when you feel a binge coming on, try to have just a tiny, tiny bit of whatever it is you really want. For instance, if you want to eat an entire package of Oreos eat JUST ONE. Denying the urges can sometimes make the desire to binge happen more frequently, but it can also be very hard to stop eating once you have started.
Above all else, do NOT get down on yourself when this happens. Making yourself feel depressed or otherwise low can actually make you want to eat more. Remind yourself that you are a very important person and you do not need this food. If you feel like you don't care, remind yourself how special and unique you are. It sounds corny, but it can really help.
I really hope at least some of this helped. Good luck!

How fast does a stomach expand?
Q. I'm not a big eater, and I have a fairly flat stomach (just a little belly fat on my lower abdominal) but I'm curious as to why I may binge for a couple of days but my stomach goes back to being flat. I don't want to keep binging and see when it expands, but how long does it usually take for a stomach to expand?
