Are there any versions of a fasting diet that actually work/are healthy?

Q. I am interested in the idea of a fasting diet (e.g. intermittent fasting) but I'm not convinced they are healthy. I once did the Lemon Detox and couldn't get past about 4 days before caving and binge eating.

I've heard some people suggest not eating one day a week or never eating after 4pm. Does anyone have any experience with these ideas or suggestions/information about the health pros/cons?

A. well, i might be able to convince you, since i am fasting until easter ;p when you fast, just don't eat any meat or dairy products. there are always other sources of protein, don't worry. instead, you could eat beans, nuts, fish(which is considered meat cause it bleeds i guess, but i can never give up my fish) any other seafood is fine. wheat bread. the list is endless ;p good luck with the fasting. don't EVER not eat for a day or whatever. not only is it not healthy, you're just gonna gain more weight afterwards. not worth it if you ask me, not eating delicious food at all and you still gain weight

How would YOU make up for a 5000 calorie binge?
Q. I know this question wouldn't be understood many people who don't binge eat like I do.. But sometimes I have had 5000 calorie binges. I know I need help, and I AM already receiving help, so please no lectures. But my question is.. What would you do after a 5000 calorie binge? Would you restrict your calories the next 4 days?.. Run for 2 hours everyday for thenext week?...

A. I would get a fresh start by beginning to eat the appropriate amounts of healthy food for my height, goal weight, gender, and age. I would focus on whole fresh foods such as fruit, vegetables especially leafy greens, 5 different color vegetables, whole grains (brown rice, oatmeal), legumes (beans, peas, lentils), nuts and seeds. For milk, I would use soy or almond milk. I would stay hydrated, get adequate sleep, walk at least 30 minutes daily, meditate, write my thoughts in a journal to sort out anything which is bothering me. I would focus on feeling peaceful and happy that I am treating my body with respect, and I would love myself.

How to stop binge eating out of sheer boredom?
Q. Im really fat, and its ALL from boredom eating, its getting too out of hand and i really need to stop it. Please help its really ruining my life.!!! Ive been fat forever, please any advice, i would like to be skinny at some point in my life before im 25.

A. I find that you can still snack from time to time, but make sure it doesn't take over your life. When you do snack make sure it's healthy. Find a healthy food (fruit or vegetable) that you really like. For me it's carrots! I have learned to love them, and am addicted. When I want to snack, I snack. I grab like 4 handfuls of carrots and eat away.

IF you are trying to loose weight do it healthy. Try to boost your metabolism by eating six small meals a day and eats lots of fiber, protein (nuts), lean meats, and lots of fruits and vegetables. Try to cut back on junk food.

#1 suggestion: RUNNING! I know most people dread it and hate it, I did too when I first started. The first two weeks were bad, I was sore, and tired and it was hard. Over time I built up to it and now I'm addicted! Just start out easy, walking a mile, jogging a mile, running a mile, then 2, then 3. Before you know it you'll be running 6-8 miles a day, and the pounds will just shed off without you knowing it. Also exersice helps to prevent you from getting cravings and hungry all the time. When you run you want to be healthy and you'll subconciously start eating healthier and less. When your bored instead of reaching for the bag of chips, lace up your tennis shoes and go for a jog...your body will thank you forever!
